Meet the latest addition to the Huddersfield Used Group Fleet, This is as I saw the truck on eBay !
It meet the basic requirements, Crew cab, 3.5 Tonne, as you’ll see there was no year or GVW in the add just the description and a few pictures See below text from eBay add,
Hi and welcome to the sale of our LDV Crew Cab Dropside Pick Up Truck with a very good ally body and Tailift. Although it’s out of MOT I would go anywhere in this truck, which can carry 5+ people, is fabulously economical, and has been a brilliant work horse. Mechanically it’s sound, drives very well and has good tyres, its not rotten or in need of lots of welding or anything sinister, in fact it’s extremely solid. The tail lift is strong and works perfectly. Starts first time every time and has only covered 44000 from new ( was used on a airfield) then as a livestock box before it had this aluminium back fitted. Known faults are the wooden base to the bed has a hole in it which ideally needs covering, both wing mirror glass are broken and it needs a battery. The bonnet catch is temperamental and bonnet itself has a line of rust long the front, aside from that it’s a great vehicle and will serve you well. I’ve tried to be as honest as possible, feel free to come and view it, try it, it’s at your disposal, but please only bid to buy and only if you can pay for it within 3 days by either Paypal ( not ideal) or cash on collection (yay!) or bank transfer if you prefer ( fine by us), Many thanks and Happy Bidding!

This is how the vender photo’d the interior ! Looks good Yer ?
Front passenger seats are a different trim pattern, There’s a single seat just loose on the floor,
Here’s some pictures of the new truck on Back of Big Brother for the ride home !

Hum think I will have to call this the incubation area the Iveco started out here too lol
Amazing what a little T Cut can do !!
Stripped all the seats & matting out today so I can now see the bottom of the trick there’s some patching to do on the rear floor and a little on the rear step and both front steps need welding Ho and a little hole in front floor drivers side were damp matting as caused corrosion,

Off side front floor
Off Side Front Step
Cut out rot and repaired as required
Near Side Front Step
Cut out rot and repaired as required
Near Side Rear Step
Cut out rot and repaired as required
Sold great I can get on with this truck soon just need the guy to collect next week then I’ll have a little space to work

Free at last that tail lift was heavy good quality though
Managed to find this just round the corner all the bits removed ready to go for blasting, From a 2005 Convoy,

Ops naked Back from the sand blasters showing some holes that need welding,
A quick coat of primer to stop it rusting till I get chance to make it good for fitting
Managed to do a bit on new chassis section while waiting for parts to come for a workshop job

Had a recovery cancelation this afternoon so did a bit more welding seemed plates up,
over plated with larger plates,

Put most of the dash back together selected the best bits & bobs from two dashes, New instrument cluster with rev counter,

Lots more stripping done all inside gutted Seats have bean washed and starting to look good, The drivers seat from Doner is still ripped but in better condition than the original and it’s got lumber and height adjustments too
Not a lot to show for todays effort photo wise, Rehung all doors fitted door cards & handles, fitted a Courtesy switch to rear door and some lights in the back also fitted some sun blinds on rear side windows, some little things replaced ashtray with storage box, replaced Cigar lighter with 12v power out put socket
Need to replace or repair that drivers seat
Sewing’s Definitely Not My strong point but it’s better than it was,
Got a seat to replace the first rear seat when I can collect it from bury
Fitted some lights in the back and sun visors
Fitted bumper from Dona
little bit more done today removed rear axle had to cut chassis to get near side spring shackle out of chassis, off side spring to shackle wouldn’t come out either but after 10 minutes of hammering there free,

This is my attempt at home made spring assisters ! well if it works great if not there be less money in my pockets LOL
The springs from the Doner looked better so there the main springs,
Sunday old springs cut down and test fitted under New springs Theory is rear springs are max load 2600kg so now 5200kg to bottom springs out don’t think it’s going to happen !! but will be a hard ride when empty, And it only lifted it 25mm the thickness of second spring,
Managed to do a little more this week some stripping and cleaning and a little painting that’s the most satisfying part
And the satisfying part, Think i’ll do these Black and Chassis Red
Had A good day today got the chassis cut and both pieces trimmed and mounted in jig ready to fine adjust before welding,

Pulled it outside for a look in the light
Fitted temp prop shaft and extended hand brake rod chassis still needs to be doubled checked before welded but it drives in and out again without bean pushed LOL
Had a productive day but very slow checking measuring checking making and checking again ! But got all the pieces made and the final jointing plan sorted,
The Pieces ready to fit,
Got called out so had to leave it like this last night,

The Pieces fitted in new section ready to fit to truck,
Some welding done and bottom piece tacked in place there’s also a piece inside at bottom to bolt prop shaft cross member to
Got the bottom section of chassis finished Prop shaft mounting all ground off and a splash of red oxide paint on, Just top sections to do,
Off Side top section done,
Near Side top section done,
Did a little test paint on back end of chassis looking good
Cleaned all the last 2 months crap of chassis and got first coat of red on,
Grill badges moved and front flashers mounted

Rear lights and side markers cleaned up and ready to fit,
Some spares lenses,
Rebuilt most of rear end painted some bits not going to paint rear axle, NOT looking bad for a 20 year old truck !!

Got lots of the little bits sorted, spare wheel carrier mounted and repaired, fuel tank removed and leak repaired, also found tank mounting brackets badly corroded so had to sort them too, Brakes all bled,
Dropped prop off at Dunning & Fairbank Leeds today for centre section to be extended by 600mm and the whole thing balanced Hopefully it will be done this week,

Well it took a full week for them to turn it round new centre bearing and a complete new middle section plus balance it all, They even gave it a coat of black paint, £222.00 inc vat
Got most of the cab rebuilt carpets seats and belts

No pictures of service all filters and oils changed engine box and rear axle
Beacon mounted just wiring to finish.
